Women's Special — Essential Expedition Directives & Guidelines
A Journey Curated for Women, Rooted in Mountain Authenticity
The Adi Kailash & Om Parvat Women’s Special is an exclusive, high-altitude Himalayan expedition designed for women seeking a deeply sacred and nature-immersed group experience. Curated by Thrillvana Expeditions (a brand of Rigasava Advisory Services Pvt. Ltd.), this journey connects you to the raw energy of the Kumaon Himalayas—spanning Vyas Valley, Om Parvat, Darma Valley, the Panchachuli range, and ancient temple circuits.
Navigating remote border regions requires physical preparation, operational transparency, and realistic expectations. Here is everything you need to know to prepare for a safe, fulfilling expedition.
Group Capacity & Community Experience
- Limited Seats: To maintain operational agility and ensure personal safety, each Women's Special batch is capped at 20 participants.
- Solo Travelers Welcome: You do not need a travel partner to join. Solo travelers are paired with fellow female participants.
- Rooming Logistics: Accommodation is structured on a twin-sharing basis in main towns (Pithoragarh, Dharchula, and Jageshwar). In remote mountain zones like Nabi, Gunji, Dugtu/Dantu, or Patal Bhuvaneshwar, triple or group-sharing in authentic local homestays is standard due to high-altitude infrastructure constraints.
Physical Fitness & Terrain Demands
This is an active mountain expedition, not a leisure sightseeing tour. The route involves:
- High-altitude vehicle transit over rugged Himalayan terrain.
- Walking and trekking on uneven, rocky mountain trails (such as Parvati Sarovar and the Panchachuli Base Camp trek).
- Rapidly changing weather conditions at elevations near ~15,000 ft.
- Basic living conditions in remote border villages.
Fitness Requirement: Prior trekking experience is not mandatory, but a baseline cardiovascular fitness level (ability to walk 4–5 km comfortably) and strong physical endurance are essential.
Acclimatization & Safety Directives
- Gradual Ascent Protocol: The itinerary is engineered to move progressively from the lower Kumaon hills (Jageshwar at ~6,200 ft) to Dharchula (~3,000 ft) before entering high-altitude Vyas Valley (~10,000 ft to ~15,000 ft), allowing your body to adapt naturally.
- Medical Fitness Certificate: A mandatory high-altitude Medical Fitness Certificate cleared by a certified physician is required. Travelers with pre-existing heart conditions, severe asthma, chronic respiratory issues, or extreme physical limitations are restricted for safety reasons.
- On-Ground Monitoring: Your Expedition Captain conducts regular pulse-oximeter SPO2 checks, monitors hydration, and provides high-altitude acclimatization guidance. Emergency oxygen cylinders are available in vehicles for high-altitude passes.
Optional Trekking & Local Support (Ponies & Porters)
- Parvati Sarovar & Gauri Kund: The trek from Jolingkong to Parvati Sarovar / Gauri Kund is physically demanding. Participants should only undertake optional high-altitude walks if properly acclimatized and comfortable.
- Pony / Mule / Porter Services: Local pony and porter support from Jolingkong to Parvati Sarovar is available strictly through local village providers at extra cost. Pony availability, pricing, and safety depend on local village committee regulations and weather conditions. Note: Pony, mule, porter, or palanquin charges are strictly excluded from the package price.
Meals & Nutrition (MAP Plan)
- Meal Inclusions: The expedition includes a pure vegetarian Modified American Plan (MAP: Breakfast & Dinner). Meals begin with dinner on Day 1 and end with breakfast on Day 7.
- Local Produce: Meals served at mountain homestays consist of fresh, locally sourced, cooked vegetarian food suited for high-altitude digestion.
- Exclusions: Mid-day lunches, snacks, packaged drinking water, personal tea/coffee calls, and special beverages are not included.
Permits, Identity Verification & Legal Eligibility
- Indian Citizens Only: Due to strict Ministry of Home Affairs border zone regulations, this expedition is open exclusively to Indian National Passport / National ID holders.
- Mandatory Verification: A valid Aadhaar Card is required for identity verification and Inner Line Permit (ILP) processing.
- ILP Clearance: Inner Line Permits (ILP) are granted at the sole discretion of the local civil administration and border authorities. Thrillvana facilitates application processing, but participants must provide all required personal documentation within the specified timelines prior to departure. Thrillvana cannot be held liable for permit rejections, administrative delays, or sudden border access restrictions imposed by government authorities.
Himalayan Weather, Road Closures & Adaptability (Force Majeure)
Mountain roads in the Kumaon Himalayas pass through active geomorphic zones. Itineraries, route sequences, or daily halt points may be revised on short notice due to:
- Sudden weather shifts, heavy snowfall, or cloudbursts.
- Landslides, rockfalls, or border road maintenance work.
- Local administration orders, military convoy movements, or permit adjustments.
Note: Any additional accommodation or vehicle costs arising directly from forced halts due to weather delays, landslides, or road closures are not covered under the fixed package cost and must be borne by the participants.
Luggage Allowance & Packing Directives
- Weight Limit Beyond Dharchula: Due to vehicle payload restrictions on steep high-altitude routes, luggage beyond Dharchula is capped at 15 kg per person.
- Main Luggage Storage: Excess luggage and non-essential items can be safely stored at our Dharchula base facility before ascending into Vyas and Darma Valleys.
- Packing Advice: Carry a sturdy duffel bag or medium rucksack, multi-layered thermal clothing, waterproof windcheaters, broken-in trekking shoes, personal medical kits, and power banks. A detailed packing checklist is issued 10 days before departure.
Personal Medicine Stock, ATM & Digital Connectivity
- Prescribed Medication Supply: There are no pharmacies beyond Dharchula. Travelers taking regular prescription medication must carry a dedicated personal supply for at least 10 to 15 days.
- Cash Limit at Dharchula: Dharchula is the final point for functional ATMs, cellular mobile networks, and digital UPI/GPay payments. Beyond Dharchula, cellular signals are non-existent or erratic. Carry adequate physical cash from Dharchula for personal expenses, tips, and optional local services.
Travel Insurance & Emergency Medical Disclaimer
- Insurance Recommendation: Travel and medical insurance are not included in the package. We strongly advise purchasing high-altitude travel insurance that covers emergency medical treatment, high-altitude transit, and altitude-related eventualities.
- Medical Expenses & Evacuation: Basic first-aid, pulse oximetry, and emergency oxygen support are provided by our team on-site. However, this is not a medically supervised expedition. All direct or indirect costs arising from emergency medical evacuation (including mountain rescue, ground transport, or airlift), hospital admissions, specialist consultations, and external medical treatment are to be borne entirely by the participant.
Booking, Payments & Terms Linkage
All bookings, advance deposits (₹15,750 per person), and cancellations are governed strictly by Thrillvana’s official Terms & Conditions and Cancellation Policy.
